SPELLING BEE
The HEF Spelling Bee is a fun, low-key community event. Twenty to thirty teams of three adult spellers (representing community organizations, local businesses, neighborhoods, schools and other groups) compete to take home the Bee Trophy. This casual evening does not involve “solo spelling”. Using a game show format, team members consult to decide on a final answer which they display on their team white board to the panel of friendly judges and cheering crowd. This
year the Bee will be broadcast live on HCAT!

To
participate, each team contributes a tax-deductible entry fee of
$300. Teams fund their entry fee with donations from
neighbors, colleagues, friends, fellow parents, or others who
want to show support for a particular team.

HEF’s focus is support for HHS students in their pursuit
of higher education, recognition of teaching excellence, and
funding for dynamic teacher-initiated projects that enhance
learning. Last year, the BEE raised over $8,000 to fund these
scholarships and programs. This year, a portion of HEF
funds will be allocated to a new Intensive Study Program
for teachers seeking to strengthen their curriculum
through innovation. The Bee is a key component of HEF’s future
funding for these efforts.
Funds raised by the Bee support the work of the Holliston Education Foundation (HEF).
